The Arrow was a wooden coaster-tug built in 1865 at E. Saginaw, Michigan. It had the dimensions of 70 feet in length, 18 feet in beam, and 3 feet in depth. The vessel had a gross tonnage of 24.61 tons.
On October 7, 1868, the Arrow encountered a storm on Lake Huron. Seeking shelter, the vessel made its way to Crawford’s Quarry dock. However, the pounding of the waves caused the Arrow to ground severely and eventually sink near the shore. Despite the possibility of raising the vessel, there is no record of its recovery.
No information is available regarding the cargo the Arrow was carrying at the time of its sinking. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties in this incident.
The Arrow operated along the western shores of Lake Huron, following a regular coasting route. It was enrolled in Detroit in 1866 and later enrolled in Port Huron.
