W.P. THEW U81024

The propeller W.P. THEW had U.S. Registry number 81024 and was built in 1884. It had a gross tonnage of 206. On June 22, 1909, the vessel collided with the propeller WILLIAM LIVINGSTON near Thunder Bay Island in Lake Huron, resulting in it becoming a total loss. Fortunately, all 11 persons on board were rescued, and there were no lives lost in the collision.

As a result of the collision, Captain D.P. Crane of the steamer WILLIAM LIVINGSTONE, whose ship sank the THEW, was suspended for 30 days by the local inspectors. This incident was reported in the Buffalo Evening News on August 27, 1909.
