W.C. FRANZ C130775

The bulk propeller URANUS was built on April 20, 1901. It had a Gross Tonnage of 3748 and a Net Tonnage of 2943. The dimensions were 346 feet in length, 48 feet in width, and 28 feet in depth. URANUS was later renamed W.C. FRANZ after being registered under the Canadian flag in 1913 with registration number C 130775.

Tragically, on November 21, 1934, URANUS (W.C. FRANZ) sank in a collision with the steamship EDWARD E. LOOMIS. The collision occurred 30 miles southeast of Thunder Bay Island in Lake Huron, resulting in the loss of four lives.
