The James L. Allison was a sidewheel self-propelled steam dredge that was built in 1890 in Saginaw, Michigan. It had an official number of 77034. The vessel was primarily used as a tug (towboat) and had the following specifications: 60 feet in length, 16 feet in beam, and 3 feet in depth. It had a gross tonnage of 54 tons and a net tonnage of 29 tons.
