The L.C. Butts, sometimes referred to as L.C. Butts No. 1, was a two-masted wooden schooner. It was built in 1850 by Wm Treat in Euclid, Ohio. The vessel had a length of 91 feet, a beam of 23 feet, and a depth of 9 feet. It had a gross tonnage of 165.

On May 15, 1866, the L.C. Butts encountered a storm on Lake Huron, and it was driven ashore and wrecked in Forest Bay. The vessel was carrying a cargo of lumber at the time. Thankfully, there were no reported casualties resulting from the incident.

The L.C. Butts was considered a total loss. It had previously undergone major repairs in 1862. The property loss from the wreck was estimated at $3,000. The vessel did not have an official registration number.

The L.C. Butts was owned by an unidentified company based in Milwaukee. It was bound from Milwaukee to Forest Bay when it went aground in Forest Bay, Lake Huron. The ship’s loss was valued at $1,300, with an insurance coverage of $600.

Please note that the available information about the L.C. Butts is limited, and additional details may not be readily accessible.
