JOHN J. AUDUBON

The brig JOHN J. AUDUBON was built in Black River and arrived in Cleveland on her first trip in April 1854. She measured 370 tons and was owned by Rufus Winslow of Cleveland. Captain Henry Gadsden commanded the vessel. The AUDUBON was praised for its model and handling and was considered a good investment for its owner, costing $14,000.
