The steam screw MYRTIE M. ROSS sank at her Windsor dock wharf due to the swells from a passing steamer, which lifted and dropped her on some submerged spiles, causing a hole in her bottom. The incident occurred in August 1900. The vessel was owned by W.E. Hall, proprietor of the Hall House in Mt. Clemens, and had no insurance. The wreck was later discovered to have a large hole in her bottom on the port side, about midships, caused by being thrown on the submerged pile by the swells from the passing vessel. The barge was eventually raised by John Quinn, using the wrecker RELIABLE, with the help of divers, and temporary upperworks were constructed to pump out the vessel. The MYRTIE M. ROSS was built in 1890, measured 156 tons, and was abandoned around 1916.
