The ALBERTA was a propeller vessel that was initially built as a sloop in 1885 in Cape Vincent, New York. It had an official number of 106355 and measured 68.9 feet in length, 17.3 feet in beam, and had a depth of 5.4 feet. The vessel had a gross tonnage of 46.23 tons and a net tonnage of 43.92 tons.

In 1890, the ALBERTA was rebuilt as a steam barge in Cape Vincent, New York, with dimensions of 98.5 x 18 x 7 feet and a gross tonnage of 88 tons. It was owned by various individuals, including G. R. Hinckley and A. L. Hinckley.

On October 8, 1902, while en route to Belleville on Lake Ontario, the ALBERTA caught fire between Belleville and Trenton, Ontario. The vessel burned to a total loss, but fortunately, there was no loss of life. At the time of the incident, the ALBERTA was carrying no cargo and was valued at $3,000. It was owned by Captain Smith and Amanda Smith of Belleville.

The ALBERTA had undergone conversion to a steamer and had been lengthened at Oswego in 1889. In 1898, it was sold to Canadian ownership and had an official Canadian number of C103648.

Overall, the ALBERTA met its unfortunate fate due to a fire, resulting in its complete destruction.
