The CHICOUTIMI was a sidewheel steamer built in 1881 by R. Savard in Levis (Bienville), Quebec. It had an official number of C80756 and was constructed using wood. The vessel had dimensions of approximately 93 feet in length, 20 feet in width, and 6 feet in depth. It had a gross tonnage of 110 tons and a net tonnage of 70 tons.

The CHICOUTIMI was primarily used as a passenger and package freight ship. It operated on various routes, including the Quebec-Chicoutimi route in 1881, short runs from Cornwall, Ontario in 1882, and trips on Georgian Bay in 1884 and 1886. From 1887 to 1892, it operated between Toronto and Victoria Park, and afterwards, it served as a ferry.

The vessel was owned by different individuals and companies throughout its history. It was owned by J. Pearce of Parry Sound, Ontario in 1884, J. J. Davis of Toronto in 1892 and 1895, and the Victoria Park Steamboat Co. of Toronto in 1901.

The CHICOUTIMI’s last recorded use as a passenger ship was in 1895. It was then laid up and abandoned in Toronto Harbor. In 1898, a fire broke out on the vessel, but it is not specified whether it was accidental or intentional. There is no mention of any loss of life in connection with the fire.

The remains of the CHICOUTIMI were destroyed by the fire, marking the end of the vessel’s existence.
