Humber Bay serves as the main attraction for divers seeking to explore its hidden wonders. Its strategic location between Ontario Place and Mimico Creek on the east side, and Mimico Creek on the west, makes it an ideal spot for underwater exploration. Named after the bay, the Humber Bay neighborhood in Etobicoke stands as a testament to the significance of this aquatic marvel.
An Abundance of Underwater Sights #
The bay is adorned with various intriguing features, including concrete pipes, training platforms, small fiberglass shipwrecks, and an assortment of mannequins and plastic skeletons. Access and Dive Conditions #
With convenient shore access, divers can park across from the Etobicoke Yacht Club and take a short walk to the beach on either side of the point. Usually, there are jugs marking where the line starts, ensuring divers can navigate the area with ease.
During the summer months, Humber Bay becomes a popular spot for divers from all over the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Dive stores often fill up quickly, especially on weekend mornings. If you’re planning a quick dive on Saturday or Sunday, considering other locations may be a wise choice to avoid overcrowding.
Visibility and Underwater Diversity #
Divers are in for a treat with impressive visibility reaching up to 50+ feet during the colder months. However, during the summer, visibility may vary, ranging from 5 to 10 feet, with rare instances of 50+ feet visibility. Nevertheless, the diversity of underwater sights compensates for any fluctuations in visibility.
