The barge named ANDREW B., registered in Canada with an official number of 189887, was a dredge vessel. It had a length of 120.00 feet, a width of 50.00 feet, and a depth of 7.50 feet. The barge was constructed at Port Weller, Ontario, and was built in 1958.
Unfortunately, the ANDREW B. met a tragic fate. On November 8, 1995, while being towed by the tug OFFSHORE SUPPLIER from Port Stanley to Whitby, the tow line broke near Long Point. As a result, the barge rolled onto its side and sank in 180 feet of water. The damage to the bulkheads of the barge made salvage operations impossible. The registration for the vessel was officially closed on May 21, 1996. The wreck of the ANDREW B. now rests at the bottom of the water, with the hull lying on its side. Surprisingly, the crane of the barge is still attached, and one of the spuds is suspended horizontally approximately 50 feet above the bottom.
