The HURON, a wooden barge, was built in 1881 at Garden Island, Ontario. It had an official number of 80873 and was constructed by Henry Rooney. The original owner of the barge was D.D. Calvin & Co., based in Kingston, Ontario. The HURON measured 160.4 feet in length, had a beam of 30 feet, and a depth of 12 feet. Its net tonnage was recorded as 275.

On August 31, 1912, the HURON met its final fate near Morrisburg in the St. Lawrence River. The barge was carrying a cargo of grain and was en-route from Kingston to Montreal. Unfortunately, it was involved in a collision with the barge A.D. of Quebec, resulting in the sinking of the HURON. This incident led to the loss of the vessel.

In 1886, ownership of the HURON had transferred to the Kingston & Montreal Forwarding Company, also based in Kingston, Ontario. However, its final chapter came to an end in 1912 when it was wrecked in the collision.
