ALGONA was a propeller vessel that was built in 1876 in Buffalo, NY. It had an official number of 105608 and was constructed with wood as the primary hull material. The vessel consisted of two decks and was built by George H. Notter. The original owner of the Algona was located in Massena, NY.

In terms of power, the Algona was equipped with one boiler and propelled by a single propeller. The dimensions of the vessel were 76 feet in length, 18 feet in beam, and had a depth of 5.6 feet. Its gross tonnage was recorded as 77.08.

Tragically, the Algona met its final fate on the St. Lawrence River, approximately 4 miles west of Morrisburg, NY. In May 1880, the vessel was destroyed by a fire, resulting in its complete loss. At the time of the incident, the Algona was carrying a cargo of hay and produce.

It is worth noting that the Algona was later rebuilt in 1880 under the same name but with a new official number, US105927.
