The barge COLLINA was built in 1883 by F. Harris in Wallaceburg, Ontario. It had dimensions of 91 feet in length, 24 feet in beam, and 5 feet in depth, with a gross tonnage of 62 and a net tonnage of 62. Owned initially by William Adolphus Fraser in Wallaceburg, Ontario, the barge later came under the ownership of A. Trerice in Dresden, Ontario.

On May 28, 1888, the COLLINA was outbound for Detroit, Michigan, when it collided with a sawlog and sank in Molly Creek near Dresden, Ontario, in Lake Erie. The barge was carrying wooden bolts at the time of the collision. Fortunately, there was no loss of life in the incident.

Reportedly, the COLLINA was later recovered and brought to Lake St. Clair, where it met its final fate. In 1891, the barge burned and was declared a total loss. The vessel’s history is marked by its construction, ownership changes, collision, sinking, recovery, and eventual destruction due to fire.
