The Allegheny was a wooden three-masted schooner-barge built in 1873 by W.W. Loomis in Erie, Pennsylvania. It had a length of 187 feet, a beam of 33 feet, and a depth of 13 feet, with a gross tonnage of 689 and a net tonnage of 599. The vessel was primarily used for transporting lumber.

On June 6, 1913, the Allegheny encountered a storm on Lake Superior near Vermilion Point, Michigan. It had broken away from the tow steamer M.T. Green and subsequently stranded on a bar during a foggy gale. The vessel found itself in front of a lifesaving station, where the surfmen managed to rescue five of the six crew members. Unfortunately, one crew member lost their life in the incident. The Allegheny eventually broke apart and was lost.

The vessel was owned by J. Dunseith and operated out of Toledo, Ohio. It had no other recorded names or official numbers.
