  • Visibility: Generally excellent (30–60 feet / 9–18 metres), better than Cedar Hill Park
  • Water Temperature: Cold early in the season, but more comfortable in late summer
  • Access: Rocky path down to the water; caution needed
  • Parking: Extremely limited—only a few vehicles can park near the site

Site Description

This is a scenic shore dive site located near Lion’s Head Bridge, with crystal-clear Georgian Bay waters and a beautiful underwater landscape. The area features rocky shelves, ledges, and boulders, making it an interesting dive with small drop-offs and natural formations. The lakebed is mostly rock, with some sand patches, and the area is relatively sheltered from strong currents.

Due to its depth range and clear water, this is an excellent site for both beginner and intermediate divers. The lack of major boat traffic in the immediate area also makes it a safer option compared to some other Georgian Bay shore dives.

  • Rocky Ledges & Drop-offs: Natural underwater formations create an interesting terrain for divers.
  • Excellent Visibility: Georgian Bay’s clear waters make for a picturesque dive.

  • Best Conditions: Summer and early fall when water temperatures are warmer.
  • Hazards: Rocky shoreline entry requires careful navigation.
  • Recommended Gear: Standard open-water setup; a wetsuit or drysuit is recommended depending on the season.
  • Facilities: No on-site restrooms—use the public restrooms at the beach in downtown Lion’s Head before heading to the site.

  • Parking: Very limited—carpooling is recommended.
  • Air Fills & Dive Shops: Closest dive shop is in Tobermory (about a 30-minute drive).
  • Emergency Services: Nearest hospital is in Wiarton, approximately 35 minutes away.

This site offers a fantastic, scenic dive with some of the best visibility in the area. Just be prepared for the rocky entry and limited parking.
