Description

This site features the remains of a submerged wooden barge, located in the sheltered waters of Humber Bay, west of downtown Toronto. Likely scuttled intentionally to serve as part of a breakwater or erosion control system, the barge lies in shallow, silt-heavy waters close to the shore.

The wooden hull is reportedly intact in parts, with visible timbers and structural outlines during brief windows of clear water. However, the bottom is extremely muddy, and any fin movement can severely reduce visibility.

The site is occasionally used as a training location for buoyancy and navigation practice due to its accessibility and manageable depth, but poor visibility and limited points of interest make it more suitable for local skill refreshers than scenic dives.

Final Disposition

Scuttled, remains submerged in place; not marked on navigational charts.
