T.J. & W.J. Waffle, Smiths Falls

T.J. & W.J. Waffle were entrepreneurs based in Smiths Falls, Ontario, operating in the early 20th century. They were involved in maritime commerce, acquiring the T.J. Waffle steamer in 1914 for use in regional trade. Their choice of a steam-powered vessel reflected the growing reliance on efficient transportation for goods and materials across waterways. Smiths Falls, located along strategic trade routes near the Rideau Canal, served as an excellent hub for their operations. Their ownership of the T.J. Waffle lasted until 1916, when they sold the vessel, potentially due to economic shifts or a strategic business decision to divest from direct shipping operations.
