We have just added a Lake Superior Keweenaw shipwreck model to our 3DShipwrecks.org website and database. The 580 ft steel bulk freighter William C. Moreland was built in 1910. Later the same year it was stranded on Sawtooth Reef off the tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula, Lake Superior on only its fifth downbound trip.

It was destroyed by Mother Nature before it could be fully recovered. Only 278 ft of the stern was ever salvaged and later joined with a new forward section to create an exact replica of the Moreland. The new ship was named Sir Trevor Dawson. The other 302 ft of ship has been pounded to pieces in the shallow water of Sawtooth Reef where it remains today.

The wreckage is spread over more than a football field of area on the reef. The model was created from 4,907 30-megapixel images shot on two 40-minute DPV dives in 15 ft. visibility and represents an estimated 60% to 70% of the wreckage resting on the reef.

The link to the new model is : https://3dshipwrecks.org/shipwreck-william-c-moreland/ and the location is shown in the second image.
