We have just added another Lake Huron, Mackinac Straits shipwreck to our 3DShipwrecks.org database and website.

The small 70 ft yacht or excursion boat Elva was built as the Glad Tidings in 1889. As the name suggests it was the 4th of Captain Bundy’s Gospel Ships. It had an amazingly long service life. In 1896 it was renamed to Elva and 1899 it was purchased by the Arnold Transit Co., Mackinaw Island, MI. In 1948 it was converted to a barge and 1954 it was burned as a spectacle for the Mackinac Bridge ground breaking.

It was discovered in 2021 by Thom Hadfield. The model was created from 826 30-megapixel images shot by Andrew Goodman in the 2024 season. The link to the new model is: https://3dshipwrecks.org/shipwreck-elva/ and the location is shown in the second image.
