3DShipwrecks is proud to announce the release of its latest digital shipwreck model: the SS Anna C. Minch, a storied Great Lakes bulk freighter lost in the devastating Armistice Day Storm of 1940.

Built in 1903 by the American Ship Building Company of Cleveland, Ohio, the Anna C. Minch served the Great Lakes for nearly 40 years, carrying grain, coal, and bulk cargo. On November 11, 1940, she met her end in towering 20-foot waves and hurricane-force winds just south of Pentwater, Michigan. All 24 crew members were lost, and the tragedy remains one of Lake Michigan’s most poignant shipwreck stories.

Today, her remains rest in two main sections, lying in 35–45 feet of water. The bow and stern are close enough for divers to visit both in a single trip, making the Minch a favorite destination for Great Lakes shipwreck enthusiasts.

The new 3D model offers an unprecedented look at the wreck site, allowing historians, divers, and the public to explore every detail without leaving shore. Using advanced underwater imaging and photogrammetry, the Anna C. Minch has been digitally preserved in stunning high resolution.

“This model is more than just a technical achievement—it’s a way to connect people to the history, heroism, and tragedy of the Great Lakes,” said a 3DShipwrecks spokesperson. “The Anna C. Minch tells a story that deserves to be remembered, and now anyone can experience it virtually.”

The SS Anna C. Minch model is available now on the 3DShipwrecks platform, complete with interactive navigation, historical information, and diver perspectives.
