Wreck History:
The Wolfe Islander II was the lifeline between Kingston and Wolfe Island from 1946 to 1976. After being retired and replaced by the Islander III, the ship was donated by the Ontario Ministry of Transportation and scuttled just offshore from Kingston in 1985. Today, she rests upright in 50 ft of water and serves as both an artificial reef and a premier training wreck.
Why It’s a Must-Do (Eh):
- Historically rich and packed with structure to explore.
- Perfect for beginner wreck divers — no overhead hazards.
- Teeming with aquatic life in warmer months.
- Minutes from downtown Kingston and a favourite with local charters.
- Note: Not accessible in winter months — seasonal dive due to ice. This is Canada.
