We have just added a Lake Michigan shipwreck located on the tip of the Green Bay Peninsula to our 3DShipwrecks.org website and database. The 105 ft schooner Sardinia was built in 1856 in Coldwater, ON and was originally Canadian owned but built before ships were registered. It was later sold and resold to multiple US owners and registered US.

In 1900 the Sardinia was docked at Hedgehog Harbor for a load wood. They had deployed their mud anchors to keep them from banging on the dock. As the wind rose the anchors dragged and the ship ended up on shore putting two major holes in the hull. The salvors were not able to raise the ship and it was abandoned. In later years it became a fishing platform and tourist attraction until it fell apart and sank beneath the surface. Today the site consists of scattered wreckage from the ship including the centerboard and trunk.

The model was created from 4,817 4000×3000 pixel GoPro images shot by Zach Whitrock and supported by Tamara Thomsen as part of a Wisconsin Historical Society archaeological project in the 2023 season. The link to the new model is: https://3dshipwrecks.org/shipwreck-sardinia/ and the location is shown in the second image.
