We’re thrilled to share some incredible updates on our recent underwater exploration efforts with Shotline Diving!
After receiving a valuable tip from a local source about submerged cultural resources that had remained undisclosed for years, we set out to conduct side scan sonar surveys to confirm these potential discoveries. Our mission was to bring these hidden pieces of maritime history to light and contribute to the ongoing documentation of our region’s shipwreck heritage.
Four Previously Undocumented Wrecks Discovered
Our team ventured to a well-traveled section of the river, an area with significant boat activity. After making multiple sonar passes over a mile-long stretch, we doubled back to cross-reference our findings. The results? We are delighted to report the likely confirmation of four previously undocumented vessels! While these wrecks may have been known to some, they had yet to be officially documented, making this an important addition to the maritime record.
Additional Verification Work
On our journey, we also took the opportunity to:
📍 Verify the identification numbers on the Airboat N44 2232.4 W75 54 00.5 near Rockport, Ontario
📍 Confirm another vessel previously located by Sonarguy.com
What’s Next?
As we continue our work, we are eager to explore these new sites further, gathering more details through dives, sonar imaging, and photogrammetry. We’ll be sharing videos, photos, and 3D models as we uncover the stories of these wrecks and help preserve our maritime heritage.
Your Support & Tips Matter!
We want to extend a huge thank you for your ongoing encouragement and support. If you have any leads on potential wreck sites or historical resources to document, we’d love to hear from you! Your input helps us continue this important work.
Stay tuned for more updates—there’s plenty of excitement ahead!
