The Chris Craft was discovered by Shotline Diving in 2023, resting at 92 feet (28 metres) of water near Buoy 181, close to Ironsides Island and just downstream of Goose Bay. The vessel sits upstream on a slope leading into deeper waters, surrounded by an abundance of fish and partially buried wreckage nearby.

This particular Chris Craft appears to have sunk while under tow, as indicated by the still-connected tow line in front of the access hatch. The presence of chrome-plated accessories and a distinctive metal hatch suggests it may have been en route to a marina or repair shop before its untimely descent into the river’s depths. Despite its fate, the vessel remains largely intact, with its engine clearly visible near the stern.

Divers will find this to be an excellent drift dive, beginning at the upstream rock outcropping before descending into the wreck site. With treasures hidden in the silt and a mysterious second wreck in the vicinity, it’s an irresistible site for any explorer.

Congrats again to Dan on this well-deserved feature! 🌊💙
