The James Buckley was a wooden propeller steam tug that was built in 1880 by J. Prescott in Prescott, Ontario. It had an official number of 80910 and measured 48 feet in length, 10 feet in beam, and 3 feet in depth. The tug had a gross tonnage of 10 and a net tonnage of 7.
On November 20, 1890, the James Buckley caught fire and was destroyed by the fire in the harbor of Port Stanley, Ontario, on Lake Erie. Unfortunately, there is no information available regarding the loss of life or the cargo the tug was carrying at the time of the incident.
Prior to its destruction, the James Buckley had different owners. It was initially owned by Brown Bros. in 1882 and later by Ainsley & Tibbets of Port Dover in 1886. The tug was powered by a high-pressure 25 horsepower engine.
