MacGraw MacDonald and the Wilma Fish Co. Ltd were key players in the Great Lakes fishing industry during the early 20th century. In 1934, MacGraw MacDonald acquired the tugboat Wilma from JA MacDonald and the Wilma Fish Co. Ltd, continuing its operations under the same company name. The Wilma, a wooden-hulled tugboat built in 1911 and rebuilt in 1917, was integral to the company’s fishing activities on Lake Erie. Tragically, on April 14, 1936, the Wilma sank near Port Dover due to ice damage, marking a significant loss for the company. The wreck now rests at a depth of 75 feet (22 meters) and serves as a popular dive site, offering a glimpse into the region’s maritime history.
