Sylvester Larned

Location: Detroit, Michigan.

History: Sylvester Larned is another potential builder of the Barclay. Larned was active in the Detroit shipbuilding industry in the mid-19th century, contributing to the construction of wooden vessels suited for the Great Lakes’ commercial and agricultural boom. As records conflict between McDermot and Larned, it’s possible Larned worked under McDermot or had an indirect role in the Barclay’s build.
