Warren Lo is a Canadian photographer and scuba diving instructor based in Toronto, Ontario. His passion for diving led him to become an instructor, with a particular affinity for teaching underwater photography.
Warren’s photographic journey began on land, but he seamlessly integrated this skill with his diving pursuits. He initially used an Olympus C5050 point-and-shoot camera with an Olympus housing, later advancing to a Nikon D-70 digital SLR, and currently employs a Nikon D3 housed in an Aquatica housing. For wide-angle shots, he utilizes the Nikkor 16mm f/2.8D AF Fisheye lens and the Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G ED AF-S wide zoom lens. His lighting setup includes two Ikelite DS-125 strobes, essential for capturing vivid underwater images.
Warren’s diving adventures have taken him to various locations, with a focus on shipwrecks in the Great Lakes region. Notable wrecks he has documented include:
• The Munson: A wooden dredge that sank in 1890 near Kingston, Ontario.
• The Arabia: A three-masted barque built in 1853, which sank in 1884 near Tobermory, Ontario.
• The Comet: A sidewheel steamer built in 1848, sunk in 1861 in Lake Ontario near Kingston.
Through his photography, Warren aims to share the beauty and history of underwater environments, inspiring others to appreciate and protect these hidden realms.
