3D & MEDIA HUB
3D Models, Video & Media
This section brings together everything visual: 3D models, video and photo galleries. It exists to show what the sites actually look like, not just list their names and coordinates. The goal is to let divers, researchers and non-divers all see the shape of the wrecks and structures that Shotline documents.
The 3D models are built from real dives and survey work, using still photographs and video frames to reconstruct each wreck in three dimensions. Video and galleries provide context around those models: conditions, approaches, details and the surrounding lake bottom.
Use the navigation pills below to move between the 3D models, the internal video directory, and the external channels and archives that host Shotline and partner material.
How 3D & Media Fit into Shotline
3D models, video and photo archives sit alongside the written wreck reports, the Master Wreck Index and the Shotline Wreck Map. Together they turn a chart symbol into a site you can picture before you ever leave the dock.
Planning & Research Workflow
- Start with the Master Wreck Index or Shotline Wreck Map to find a site.
- Open the wreck record for identification, history and site notes.
- Use the 3D model (where available) to understand shape, layout and damage.
- Use video and galleries to preview approach, lines, moorings and bottom.
- Bring that picture back into your own dive plan or research notes.
A Note on Reality vs. Models
The models and videos are reference tools, not substitutes for training or judgement. They show layout, orientation and key features, but they do not remove current, visibility, entanglement or overhead risk.
Treat them the way you treat a good chart or set of plans: extremely useful, but always checked against what you see on the day.
3D Models & Media Directory
Use these cards as your main jumping-off points for the visual side of Shotline. Some links stay inside the site, others head out to partner platforms where the heavy media lives.
3D Models Overview
The 3D side of Shotline Diving is built around photogrammetry and structured image capture. Multiple passes over a wreck are processed into a point cloud and mesh, then textured from the original imagery to preserve planking, plating, damage and growth.

Shotline Video Directory
The internal index for Shotline video content, organised by wreck, region and project. Use this when you want to find a specific clip, compare multiple dives on the same site, or see which wrecks currently have supporting video.

Public-facing videos: site overviews, selected dives and project updates. Ideal for non-divers or anyone who wants a quick look at what the wrecks actually look like under current conditions.

Partner Video Archives
- Dan Gildea – US Side: Open Dan Gildea’s Archive »
- Spike’s Historical Archive: Open Spike’s Historical Archive »
These partner collections capture earlier cameras, older gear and past conditions. They document how both the wrecks and the divers have changed over time.
