SITE ORIENTATION #
The Kring Point Pleasure Craft was discovered lying upside down at a depth of 42 feet (12 meters) in the St. Lawrence River, near Kring Point State Park, Redwood, NY. The motor of the small boat is broken off and props up the stern section, providing a unique orientation on the riverbed. The wreck lies just north of Kring Point State Park in Redwood, NY, between the park shoreline and a large rock shoal along the shipping channel.
DISCOVERY AND EXPLORATION #
The wreck was discovered by Dan Gildea and Jay Paraino during a scanning expedition in July 2024. The area surrounding the wreck includes various targets identified by sonar that have yet to be explored, making it a promising site for potential future discoveries.
ADDITIONAL FINDINGS #
Just upstream of the pleasure craft lies a 30-foot-long steel pipe, approximately 24 inches in diameter, with an oval cap. This object, along with the wreck, adds to the intrigue of the site and may attract divers interested in exploring the untouched targets in the vicinity.

CURRENT CONDITION & ACCESSIBILITY #
The wreck of the Kring Point Pleasure Craft is accessible to divers at a depth of 42 feet (12 meters). Due to its unique orientation and the presence of other unexplored objects nearby, it offers an interesting dive site for those exploring the St. Lawrence River. Since the wreck is in shallow water inside the rock shoal there is a very light current but not enough to wash you off the wreck. The bottom is mostly silt and zebra mussel shells however the sonar scan picked up multiple other unidentified objects in the area that have yet to be explored. Under the wreck there is a large family of red eyed rock bass and the anchor line from the bow heads toward shore (Kring Point) where we presume there is an anchor attached to the other end. It is highly likely the contents of the vessel are either still onboard or laying directly underneath.
