On Wednesday morning, August 26, 1896, the schooner P. S. MARSH, which was laden with sandstone and traveling from Portae to Ashtabula, foundered in Lake Superior, approximately 5 miles east of the Two Heart River. Fortunately, the entire crew of the schooner was saved from the incident. This news was reported in the Port Huron Daily Times on Thursday, August 27, 1896.
