The Hickory Stick, a dredge with a gross tonnage of 260, was built in 1944. It was assigned the U.S. Number 267265. Tragically, the vessel met its demise during a storm on Lake Erie. The incident occurred due north of Avon Point, Ohio, on November 29, 1958. The Hickory Stick was completely destroyed, resulting in a total loss.
This information about the Hickory Stick’s loss is included in the U.S. Vessel losses on the Great Lakes. The Merchant Vessel List of the U.S. in 1960 documents this unfortunate event, preserving it as a part of maritime history.
