CHICAGO river barge. 1872-1912. 350.84 tons net, 146.6’. Capacity 22,000 bushels. Built at Montreal by J.B. Auger in 1872. One mast. 1874 rated 1 out of a possible 3 and valued at $10,500. 1878 again rated 1 and valued at $7,500. 1884 rated A21⁄2. 1892 again rated A21⁄2 and valued at $5,000. 1897 rated B1 and valued at $3,500.

The barge CHICAGO was rebuilt in 1884, got a new deck in 1891 and was recorded as “Repairing” in 1897. The 1902-12 Montreal Transportation Co. Directors’ Reports and minutes showed her as “on hand but of no value”. She was abandoned in the Cataraqui River at Kingston about 1908 and removed from the register in 1915.
